The story behind my books

Whilst attending University (1994) a Lecturer, viewing my Bible paintings/drawings, encouraged me to “draw everyday”. He recognised that my relationship with the written Word was of great importance to me, and therefore my art. 

So I began my visual journey throughout the entire Bible.  I was reading Chronicles at that time and started my drawings from there, and progressed through the Bible in book order, only stopping occasionally to study a book in more depth.  Esther is an example of this deeper reflective study and resulted in a series of large scale paintings for my first solo exhibition. I incorporated the text within these paintings.

Over the course of 22 years I completed my many drawings using different mediums, styles, textures, papers and journals. It was an experimental and enlightening journey as much as a learning/growing experience.

Recently my mother urged me to publish a book from these myriad of drawings, this led me to self-publish my first book, “The Book of Ecclesiastes”, originally for my family. This developed into re-publishing it twice more for other interested parties.

I am currently working on an overview book of Psalms.
